KALBAR COMMUNITY LOFT & PIGEON MUSEUM

Where Community, Care and Living History Come Together

The Kalbar Community Loft & Pigeon Museum is the flagship project of the Australian Pigeon Council Ltd (APCL). It is being developed on a 15-acre site in Kalbar, Queensland as the first of a planned national network of Community Loft & Museum Hub.

This is not a concept on paper — it is a real place, in active development, designed to become a permanent community asset for elderly people, people with disabilities, young Australians and the wider public.

A Place Built for People

The Kalbar site is being designed as a welcoming, peaceful and accessible environment where people can:

  • Care for pigeons

  • Learn and teach

  • Participate in meaningful routines

  • Meet others across generations

  • Experience history and nature

  • Feel connected and valued

Everything about the site is being built with calm, dignity and inclusion in mind.

What Will Be on the Site

The Kalbar Community Loft & Museum will include:

  • Purpose-built pigeon lofts and aviaries

  • A public museum and exhibition space

  • Accessible walkways and viewing areas

  • Education and activity

  • Quiet spaces for reflection and conversation

  • Areas for schools, families and community groups

  • Facilities for community and national events

This creates a living, breathing environment where animals, people and stories come together.

Why Kalbar

Kalbar was chosen because it offers:

  • A peaceful rural setting

  • Space for animals and people

  • Easy access for visitors

  • The ability to build something permanent

It provides the perfect foundation for a flagship community hub that can later be replicated across Australia.

Already Underway

APCL has secured access to the Kalbar property under agreement, and founders have already invested personal capital into:

  • Planning and site preparation

  • Early infrastructure

  • Project design and modelling

This project is not waiting to begin — it is already in motion.

Our 24-Month Delivery Vision

Over the next two years the Kalbar site will:

  • Complete construction and fit-out

  • Begin elderly, disability and youth programs

  • Open to schools and the public

  • Host community and educational events

  • Become a fully operational Community Loft & Museum

It will then serve as the blueprint for national expansion.

More Than a Building — A Legacy

The Kalbar Community Loft & Museum is designed to last for decades.

It will become:

  • A place of belonging for people who feel forgotten

  • A centre of animal-assisted wellbeing

  • A hub of education and intergenerational connection

  • A living museum of pigeons and communication

It is not just a facility — it is a community legacy.

Be Part of the Foundation

We invite partners, philanthropies, corporate supporters and community members to help shape the future of this flagship project.
