Connecting People & Pigeons — Creating Purpose, Belonging and Lasting Community Legacy Across Australia

The Australian Pigeon Council Ltd (APCL) is a registered Australian charity building a national network of Community Loft & Museum Hubs that bring together elderly people, people with disabilities, and young Australians through animal-assisted engagement, education, living heritage — and community events.

We exist to create places where people are not forgotten — where they are needed, valued and connected.

Our Vision

APCL’s vision is to establish a network of Community Pigeon Lofts and Living Museums that provide:

  • Purpose and routine for elderly people

  • Inclusion and dignity for people living with disability

  • Learning, mentoring and connection for young Australians

  • Education and cultural heritage for the wider public

  • Public events that bring communities together around animals, history and participation

These are not clubs or competitions — they are places of belonging.

Our Flagship Community Hub — Kalbar, Queensland

APCL has secured, under agreement, access to a 15-acre site in Kalbar (QLD 4309) which is being developed as our flagship Community Loft & Pigeon Museum.

This peaceful rural site will become:

  • A therapeutic, animal-assisted community space

  • A living museum of pigeon history and communication

  • A place for elderly, disabled and young people to participate and belong

  • An education and visitor centre

  • A venue for community and national pigeon events

Founders have already invested personally in planning and early infrastructure. The project is now in active development.

Community Events With Purpose

APCL will conduct regular pigeon events at its Community Loft & Museum hubs. These events are designed to:

  • Bring the public onto the site

  • Create excitement and participation

  • Generate revenue to support charitable programs

  • Showcase pigeon history, science and welfare

  • Create shared experiences between generations

Events are how our centres stay alive, funded and connected to the wider community.

Why This Matters

Across Australia:

  • Elderly people are becoming isolated

  • People with disabilities are excluded from meaningful community roles

  • Young people are disconnected

  • Loneliness and mental-health decline are rising

APCL exists to create non-clinical, human-centred spaces where people reconnect — with animals, with others and with themselves.

A Living Legacy in the Making

APCL is more than a project.
It is a long-term community legacy.

We are building something that will:

  • Operate for decades

  • Serve thousands of people

  • Combine social impact with sustainable public events

  • Become part of Australia’s social infrastructure

  • Be shaped by the partners who help create it
